Walter  Smith

It is with great sadness that CARE announces the passing of Founding Board Member, long time animal advocate and loyal CARE supporter, Walter J. Smith, Jr. on February 22, 2008.  Walter was CARE’s first Treasurer and served on the Board of Directors from 2000 to 2001.  Walter attended the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Finance, majoring in accounting and finance. He relocated to California over thirty years ago, settling in San Juan Capistrano in 1978. Walter was a retired Chief Financial Officer of a Southern California corporation and a licensed realtor in San Juan Capistrano.  Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Betty Smith, who was also a Founding Board Member in CARE, as well as a psychologist with the Orange County Health Care Agency in Children’s Mental Health and also had a private practice in San Juan Capistrano.  Betty passed away last year.  CARE would like to express their sincere condolences to Walter and Betty’s children and family.
